Who Killed Dame Diana?

September 20, 2025 Avis Olsen

Some new writing of mine can be yours as part of a fundraiser for a Palestinian family. This fundraiser is a collaboration with Creators for Gaza and @crimsonrammbler. Please show love to Rahma, a Palestinian woman supporting her family. I know that everyone is broke, but literally any amount will help.

Rahma was a pharmacist in Gaza City. When Israel bombed their house, the family was displaced many times to different shelters and camps. Ultimately they split up and some went to Rafah and others to Deir al-Balah. Before the crossing closed in May 2024, Rahma was able to evacuate to Egypt with her husband and kids. They were lucky to make it there, but they lost their home, and the rest of their family is still under siege and bombardment. Rahma’s uncle and cousin were killed, and Rahma is working tirelessly to send money to protect the rest of the family. Both tents and travel are astronomically expensive, and Rahma is racing against the clock to raise funds so that the family can evacuate to central or south Gaza.

After you donate, send me your receipt at contact.noraolsen at gmail dot com. Then I will send you an exclusive link to my new, never-before-seen, very-short story “Who Killed Dame Diana?” My goal was to write a soothing and cozy murder mystery, and it starts like this:

Although a murder investigation is never a happy occasion, Inspector Borkington was thrilled to meet the world-famous detective Monsieur Eng. He swept into the room with a swirl of his cape and he did not speak to the Inspector until he had examined every inch of the study and the locks on the windows and door. Inspector Borkington knew from her own examination that the locks did not appear to have been tampered with in any way. The body had been removed already, leaving only splashes of blood on a button-tufted chair.

To find out who done it, make a donation in any amount to Rahma’s family and send me your receipt. Five donors’ names will be drawn from an actual hat to receive a limited-edition print copy. I’m not saying you will be haunted for the rest of your life if you don’t know how the story comes out! But we’re all certain to be haunted by the silence and genocidal mania of our world leaders. And here is one positive and concrete thing you can do that will make a real difference to Rahma’s family, who are truly in a life-and-death situation.

Thank you so much for your caring and your generosity! We are all interconnected and I appreciate you beyond measure.
